Planning a summer getaway all starts with figuring out where you want to go. If you want a New Zealand trip this time, you will always have plenty of choices for the perfect summer destination. What’s more is that you will also have lots of activities to do in each destination.

The Bay of Islands

The Bay of Islands is composed of 144 islands offering a wide range of water activities, such as surfing, sailing, swimming, and dolphin safaris, among others. It is also a renowned big-game fishing ground, which is why it is frequented by people from various parts of the world who want the satisfaction of catching game sharks, marlin, or broad bills.

Four hours by car and you will reach Cape Reinga, the country’s most northern point. You will also see Giant Kauri Trees as well as huge sand dunes.

Raglan

It is New Zealand’s Ultimate Surfing Capital. It is a small town with an even smaller population. The Secret Kaori Lodge is built in the middle of the bush, but don’t be deceived by its appearance. It actually has the modern comforts that you need, such as a TV and stereo, a deck overlooking the ocean and offering the perfect view of the sunset, a pool table, and a place where first-time surfers can learn the skills.

Queenstown

This is a must-visit for all the adventurers out there as Queenstown offers so many extreme adventures. It is the land of bungee jumping, canyon swinging, white water rafting, drift driving, dirt biking, and paragliding. If you want to keep the adrenaline pumping, this is the ideal New Zealand summer destination for you.

Rotorua

Rotorua is known for its hot springs and geysers, hence the strong, sulphur smell. You can feel your worries and stress ebb away as you spend a lot of time bathing in the hot springs. However, it can offer more. You can enjoy some underground activities with black water rafting and a visit to the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, where you might feel like you are looking at a starry sky created by the thousands of glow worms.

Taupo

Conquer your fear of flying not only by getting on a plane, but also by jumping out of it as you skydive. You can enjoy the best yet the cheapest skydiving adventure in Taupo. A white limo will fetch you and take you to a pink plane. When the plane reaches 15,000 feet, you have to jump out of it and be distracted by the beauty of Mt. Ruapehu, the mountain that served as Lord of the Rings’ Mt. Doom, and the coast of New Zealand.

Auckland

Auckland has a lot of beaches to choose from, such as the Mission Bay that is perfect for families and the Pakiri Beach that is frequented by surfers. There are also other activities beyond what the beach can offer in the region. It has 26 regional parks that you can explore with your family and friends. Even small kids will enjoy a day at the Kelly Tarlton’s SEA LIFE Aquarium, the Auckland Zoo, or the Butterfly Creek.

Franz Josef Glacier

Cool down at Franz Josef Glacier, which covers snow-capped mountains and a temperate rainforest. You might start the adventure in the jungle, where you will sweat a lot, only to be cooled down when you come out on top of a glacier. You can choose between full day and half day hikes.

Fill your summer getaway with these destinations in New Zealand. It will surely be a summer to remember, especially if you hire a campervan and jump from one region to the next.

Hiking in New Zealand can be more than just a physical activity. It is also an effective therapy and the perfect way to soothe your soul as you let go of your worries, thanks to the beautiful sceneries the country has to offer. There are so many wonderful hiking tracks to choose from that it can be quite difficult to settle with one.

The Abel Tasman Coastal Track

This track may take three to five days to complete. After covering 52km of walking, you will find some awe-inspiring sandy beaches, sheltered coves, untouched bush, and rocky headlands. Just make sure to be physically fit to continue walking for days before you reach the finish line of this track. It is even the least strenuous track to cover among the country’s Great Walks, but with the same reward in the form of natural beauty. Time your crossings with the low-tide so prepare early. This way, you can focus the rest of the day on rare animal encounters.

Hollyford Track

This is found in the Hollyford Valley, where the rainforest kisses the glacial waters. It is one of the two areas in the world with such a set-up.

The guided option for this walk is designed for a group of at most 16 people. The group can spend the night at a private lodge.

Day one can cover 17km, day two can be spent walking 14km, and day three for around 9km. The walk is made easy with the help of marked trails and the use of swinging bridges hanging over river waters.

Hikers can cross over the pristine lake by taking a jet boat. They can also get out of the valley by helicopter. The plane ride will also give you a an aerial view of the Milford Sound.

Tongariro Crossing

This is a one-day walk that makes it great for first-time hikers. However, it requires walking at a high altitude and across a volcanic terrain that will show you the beauty of an active crater, the path where lava flows, cold mountain springs, and crater lakes shining brightly in all their emerald beauty. Before conquering the Tongariro Crossing, make sure you are fit and excited about the hike.

Hiking through Tongariro Crossing will likely be a dream come true for Lord of the Rings fans as this place served as the movie’s Mount Doom. If you want a safe trek, you can hire a guide and even gain historical insight into the place.

Milford Track

Since this is New Zealand’s most famous track, prepare yourself to hike with a huge crowd. A guided tour will show you the fjordlands, where the valleys and mountains meet, with the amazing beauty of nature presented in the form of waterfalls, gorges, and deep water lakes.

On the third day, you will climb up the zig zag track of the Mackinson Pass. This is the most physically demanding part of the trek, but it is also the most rewarding when you look at the scene in front of you. The fiordland trek usually takes three days and four nights of camping, with seven hours of walking each day.

Queen Charlotte Track

This trek covers 71k and takes you through bays, inlets, and green waters. You can start the trek without a guide, although first-time trekkers might feel safer with a guide. Accommodation is offered by B&Bs, luxury lodges, homestays, camp sites, and motels all throughout the Marlborough Sounds.

Aside from hiking, trekkers can also take a break to swim and kayak, rent a yacht, cruiser, or speed boat, or tour around some vineyards in the sounds.

Have these spots mapped out in your campervan trip. You can just park your campervan in any of the holiday parks close to these spots and just go back to that spot after your walk. This is the beauty of camping and trekking in New Zealand.

Campervans are among the best modes of transportation to use if you are going to explore New Zealand. They are easily available for hire in the country and you can find them in great deals, too. But the biggest reason why you should take the campervan is that you can be comfortable during your trip and make as many stops as you’d like. This allows you to enjoy and savour the best views in New Zealand.

The Waikato River

It comes out of Lake Taupo and it amazes anyone with its blue colour that looks almost fake. The river even has a natural swimming pool-like shape. You can have a better view of the river if you try Taupo’s Bungee Jump.

Marlborough Vineyards

The Marlborough Region offers some of the best vineyards in the world. This is where some of the top wines are made, such as Sauvignon Blancs. You can take your campervan from one vineyard to the next for the wine-tasting tour.

Big Franz Josef Glacier

This is found on the West Coast of the South Island. You can climb up the Alex Knob at 1300m to get a better view of the glacier. It is considered as the fastest moving glacier in the world as it moves at one metre daily.

Abel Tasman

The Abel Tasman National Park in South Island boasts of white sands. You can stop and take a hike at the Abel Tasman Coastal Track for a day.

Marlborough Sounds

If you want to get to the South Island from the North Island, you have to pass the Cook Strait. It might be the best ferry ride that you will ever take in the world as you see the emerald blue waters of the Sounds.

Sheep Traffic Jam

This is one of the unique views in New Zealand, which is reported to be home to 30 million sheep. It’s not uncommon to find yourself stopping in the middle of the road to let a flock of sheep pass.

Waitakere Beaches

Among the best beaches in the area are the Muriwai Beach, where migratory birds called Ganets can be found; Karekare Beach, which is unique with its black sand; and Anawhata Beach, which is perfect for a romantic 20-minute walk.

Tongariro National Park

The view is that of a volcanic landscape that make you feel as though you’re on another planet, such as Mars. In fact, the park was used as a filming location for Mordor, the evil mountain in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Find a good campervan parking and enjoy the 19km Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

The Milford Track

This is the best spot in New Zealand for avid hikers for its famous hiking trail. You have to book a spot in exploring the track because it is on limited offer every year. You will not be disappointed in one of the finest walks in the world. Bring some materials for the heavy rains because it is one of the wettest regions in the country.

The Coromandel

This green peninsula is believed to be the landing spot for the first person to get to New Zealand a thousand years ago.

Southern Alps

Aside from taking your campervan, you can take a helicopter ride and enjoy the snow-capped mountains of the Southern Alps from up in the air.

Driving around in New Zealand has a lot to offer when it comes to scenic drives. Going on a road trip is the best way to explore the country so you won’t miss out on its natural scenery. It’s no wonder campervan travel is all the rage in the country, among locals and foreign tourists. Once you hire a campervan, make sure to pass by these scenic drives.

Te Anau to Milford Sound Highway

This is a two-hour drive that will pass through lush rainforest, moss-covered mountains, mirror lakes, and cliff faces. Just be prepared for the rainy weather in this part of the country, although this also means incredible waterfalls. But the best part about this drive is when you are approaching the 1.2-km long Homer Tunnel. As you watch the traffic light signal, you’ll be sitting inside an amphitheatre made of a massive glacier surrounded by sheer rock cliffs.

Westport to Greymouth

This coastal drive certainly delivers. You will the Tasman Sea on your right and the Southern Alps with their snowy peaks on the left. Even if you start the trip on a sunny weather, you still need to prepare for the rain because this is one of the rainiest spots in the country. One of the best stops in the area would be the Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki.

When you reach Greymouth, continue driving on the SH6 until you get to the Franz Josef Glacier. You also have the option to get on the Trans Scenic Railway, which passes by the Southern Alps before reaching Christchurch.

Forgotten World Highway

This is the oldest touring route in New Zealand that runs for 155km. It stretches from the north island’s central plateau to the west coast and the Taranaki mountain. Prepare your body and mind to pass through tunnels, gorges, and thick forest. The drive also includes the highest waterfall on the island, a town/republic, and the Tangarakau Gorge.

The drive through the highway, also called the Lost World Highway, usually lasts for three to four hours. But if you want to make several stops along the way, it would be better to plan your itinerary for a few days in this area.

It is also perfect for camping if you want an impressive view from your campsite. You will see Mount Taranaki and the Tongariro National Park as your camping background.

Christchurch to Marlborough

This route lets you drive through the flat Canterbury countryside, with the Southern Alps in the background. It also shows the Pacific Ocean and passes through Kaikoura. Take the time to stop around the rocks and you might just see some New Zealand fur seals. If you want, you can stay in Kaikoura for at least a night and join the whale watching tour the next morning, where you will see some huge Sperm Whales. This is definitely a great stop before you start some wine tasting tour in the Napa Valley in the Marlborough region.

Wanaka to Queenstown

This route is in South Island’s Southern Lakes region, where tourists can try bungy jumping, white-water rafting, and skiing, among others. Just choose the Cadrona Pass to reach Queenstown.

When you’re about to go out of Wanaka, the road slowly goes up before the Cadrona Pass. It becomes even steeper as you go out of Cadronate, complete with twists and turns, before you reach Queenstown, The Remarkables mountain range, and Lake Wakatipu.

Planning a romantic getaway is always a challenge. You always aim to make your partner or spouse feel amazed, with butterflies in their stomach, reminding them how it felt like when you first went out on a date. If you have set your eyes on New Zealand, you should know the most romantic spots to visit in the country.

Coromandel Peninsula

The Coromandel treats its visitors to the raw beauty of the forests and untouched beaches. Couples can take a walk during sunset from the northern part of the Hahei Beach until they reach the famous Cathedral Cove. It’s a must-have to take a commemorative shot of the place, matched by the sandy beach and the shade provided by the Pohutukawa trees.

Rotorua

A must-visit is the Mud Spa in Hell’s Gate, which is where you will enjoy 700 years of European and Maori cultures. This place also treats tourists to steaming fumaroles, erupting waters, mud volcano, boiling mud, and the biggest waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere. If you want to remind your love of your hot romance, taking them to this place will likely be an effective reminder.

Queenstown

Couples who want to give their anniversaries an exciting twist can take the leap with a bungee jump in Queenstown. The Nevis Bungee is known for being the highest bungee jumping point in Australasia. You can prove your willingness to share each other’s fear and excitement by taking the jump together.

Waiheke Island

Couples would love the Waiheke Island Wine Tours. You can also take a short ferry ride across the Hauraki Gulf and take in the view of the Waiheke Island, as well as the top three vineyards in the island. Enjoy the tour even more with a glass of wine.

Marlborough Sounds

The Classic New Zealand Wine Trail is something that couples shouldn’t miss in the region. Savour the tour more with a bike ride to the vineyards. The ride will get your appetite worked up so you can enjoy the different flavours and wine that Marlborough Sounds has to offer. Add to that the fact that you will be enjoying these things while looking at some breathtaking natural scenery.

Waitangi

History buffs will love Waitangi. It was handed over to more than 500 Maori chiefs by the British Crown in 1840, when both parties signed the Treaty of Waitangi. Aside from its rich history, the place also has a lot of offer, from the Treaty House and its garden to the Haruru Falls.

Auckland

Shoppers adore Auckland because of everything that it has to offer this crowd, from the open air street markets to the most respected designers. Couples can also feel like young lovers again as they try the restaurants, bars, clubs, and cafes in the area. Those who really want to see more of the city can go to the Sky Tower. There is also the exciting Orbit, a 360-degree revolving restaurant, the Sky Jump, or the SkyWalk around the pergola of Sky Tower. But your Auckland vacation won’t be complete without visiting the Rangitioto Island, the biggest yet the youngest volcano in Auckland that gives you a 360-degree view of the entire region as you stand on its 26-metre-high summit.

Waitomo

Explore the Waitomo Coves with your loved one. Rev up your relationship and prepare for the next stage in your life, especially if you’re celebrating a milestone as a couple. When you reach 100 metres below the ground, you might hear your breath hitch as you see the beauty brought about by tiny glow worms in thousands.

Plan your romantic vacation in New Zealand now using this guide. At least you don’t have to limit yourself to a single option and you can even choose to combine any of these destinations to make the most out of your vacation.

If you want to try this experience, there are a few famous destinations that you can go to in New Zealand. Wouldn’t it be a fun idea to meet other daredevils and enjoy the experience together?

New Zealand and Australia have a lot to offer to aspiring skydivers. In all their adventure spots, your safety is always a priority, so you have to be strapped to an expert skydiver, except for those who have a skydiver license.

What Skydiving Is Like

Each jump varies in height, but the highest is at 20,000 feet. The higher the jump, the longer the freefall will. One thing’s for sure though – a skydiver will enjoy the New Zealand scenery from up above at any skydiving height.

In choosing a skydiving destination, you have to consider your other plans for your New Zealand trip and the scenery that you want to see when you jump. No matter where you decide to go, your first skydive will be an unforgettable experience.

Top Skydiving Destinations

You can fulfil your skydiving dreams with friends and drive to these destinations in your campervan:

Bay of Plenty. The jump will show you the landscape consisting of Mount Ruapehu and White Island, a live volcano.

Auckland. Skydivers can indulge in their adrenaline pumping activity in the southern and western outskirts of the city, but not directly over the city itself. If you want to see a broader view of Auckland, try skydiving now.

Taupo. This is the ideal skydiving destination for those who want to see forests, mountain ranges, geothermal activity, and Lake Taupo itself. The jump can be done right above the lake. The spot will also give you a clear view of the Tongariro, Ruapehu, and Ngauhruhoe mountains in the Tongariro National Park. Taupo is even considered as the skydiving base in North Island.

Northland. A jump in this spot will show you the forests and beaches surrounding the Bay of Islands’ 144 islands. This is also the highest jump off point in New Zealand at 20,000 feet, letting skydivers enjoy 85 seconds of freefall at a speed of 120 miles per hour or less.

Coromandel. Skydiving in this region will give you a view of the Firth of Thames, the Coromandel Peninsula, and Auckland. Jumps are particularly executed over the Thames.

Canterbury. This spot has among the most number of skydiving operators. It is frequented by daredevils who want to see the Southern Alps and the Pacific Ocean.

Nelson. Skydivers jump directly above the Abel Tasman National Park, giving you the chance to see the golden beaches, the Southern Alps, the Tasman seas, and the Pacific Ocean.

Wanaka. This is a convenient skydiving spot for those who live in the nearby town of Queenstown.

Queenstown. Skydiving will never be lost in the adventure skydiving spots in the world. Queenstown hosts many other adventures and extreme activities for enthusiasts. The jump will show you just what the Otago and Southern Alps looks like from the air.

West Coast. The Fox and Franz Josef glaciers are pointed out as good drop zones. When you jump, you will see the mountain peaks, the country’s unique coastline, the glaciers, and the Tasman Sea.

To move freely from one skydiving spot to the next, it would be a good idea to rent a campervan. As long as you have a qualified and trusted driver, you’re good to go.

If you dream of travelling around New Zealand and taking in the sights of its natural gifts, driving around in a campervan would be a good idea. You won’t be the only one doing it because many tourists in the country explore it in their campervans. This is because New Zealand is ideal for a campervan adventure.

Convenience and Affordability

Campervans are usually equipped with a bed, bedding, cookware, stove, and utensils. You can even comfortably wash your food and everything else in the built-in kitchen sink. But more than just the beauty and convenience of a campervan, it is also affordable to use this mode of transportation around New Zealand. What’s even better is that you can make new paths and set your own pace while exploring the country.

Easy Driving Terrain

If you are concerned about driving, you don’t need to worry about that. The New Zealand terrain makes it easier to drive. The roads are not troubled by traffic and angry and frustrated drivers and passengers. When you arrive in the country, arrange for someone to pick you up, and get ready for a great vacation ahead.

Number of Campsites

Another reason to try camping in New Zealand is the number of campsites and holiday parks in the country. Almost every town, tourist spot, beach, and national park has a campsite nearby. You don’t even need to book a hotel room when you can sleep in your campervan. Some of these campsites can even accommodate you for free. But if you want to switch accommodations, you can always book one of those campground cabins.

Campground Facilities

Campgrounds in New Zealand are well-equipped to handle campervan travellers. Many of them offer the following facilities, some paid while others are for free:

– Laundry facilities

– Hot showers

– Satellite TV

– Picnic tables

– Kitchen with stove, refrigerator, tables, chairs, and sinks

– Internet

Some campsites even provide hot tubs, swimming pools, playground, games room, and trampoline for tired campers.

Public Restrooms

If you are particular about the cleanliness of the toilet that you use, many of the toilets in New Zealand might impress you. These are still public restrooms maintained with pristine conditions. They are even available to the public for free. You don’t have to worry about stopping at dirty public restrooms on the road if you don’t want to clog up your toilet in the campervan.

Modern and Remote Campsites

However, don’t expect all campsites to be like a resort with their media rooms and pools. Some are found in more remote locations and managed by the department of conservation. These campsites thought will show you just what nature is really like without human interference.

You can still travel safely and comfortably around New Zealand even in a basic campervan. As long as you can find campsites in the areas that you plan on visiting, you will be fine. Even if it rains, you can simply sit in your van and enjoy the weather, watch a movie, or play games with the family.

Campervan travellers love New Zealand for these reasons. Now, you can have a taste of it too if you go and book that campervan for your next vacation.
