Campervan Tours: Exploring the City of Whangarei

I love traveling, as well as driving a campervan. During my bouts of travel, I always make sure to travel with a campervan especially here in New Zealand. With a campervan, my travels are a lot easier. I can go to any destination I want – faster. Also, if I don’t have the budget to lodge in hotels, I can sleep in my motorhome.

If you will visit New Zealand, I suggest you come to see and explore the City of Whangarei. It’s in the Northland Region of New Zealand. It’s a fantastic place and you can do fun-filled activities. In this post, I’ll tell you what I know about Whangarei.

All about Whangarei

Whangarei is a very vibrant city located at the Northland Region of New Zealand. It is a large city having 52, 200 people. You won’t get bored as the place has its own museums, beach campsites and botanical gardens. The city is paved with pleasant streets and you won’t have a problem looking for transport routes when you are driving with a campervan.

Tourists and travelers love Whangarei because of its fun and busy attractions. Whangarei has the Kiwi House and the Cape Reinga. The Kiwi House is a nice attraction for the whole family, especially kids since the kiwis are interesting birds. The Kiwi House does not only house kiwis but other animals as well, like the tuatara and geckos.

On the other hand, Cape Reinga is popular for its legend and myths. It is said to be a mysterious lighthouse where spirits pass by. If you want to spook and amaze yourself, Cape Reinga is best for you. Since traveling on foot would be a sore, you can always rent a campervan in nearby rental companies.

What to do in Whangarei

One thing is certain – and that is to explore. Aside from the Kiwi House and the Cape Reinga, you can also visit the city’s Clapham’s Clock Museum. Even if you love clocks or not, you will be amazed with the museum’s large collection of clocks.

If you don’t want to see museums, you can drive your campervan towards the Whangarei Falls. This is a good activity wherein you can enjoy the beauty of nature. Just look for nearby parking lots wherein you can leave your campervan. The Whangarei Falls is such a beauty and it has a stunning scenery around it.

Another place wherein you can drive your campervan is towards the Ah Reed Kauri Park. If you want a little exercise, you can walk along the park’s trails while sightseeing. The park is abundant with green luscious trees and amazing garden.

If you get tired of all the exploring, you can just drive back at the city and indulge yourself with good food. Always remember that when exploring New Zealand, it is best to rent a campervan. It saves time and you can arrive at your destination faster.
